UCSF News’ recent article, “4 Ways Artificial Intelligence is Poised to Transform Medicine,” highlights how AI is advancing medicine in ways humans can’t. Reza Abbasi-Asl, PhD, assistant professor of Neurology and a HIVE collaborator, is featured for his work using AI to improve MRI image quality to better diagnose traumatic brain injuries.
"Our findings highlight the promise of AI and machine learning to improve the quality of medical images captured by less advanced imaging systems,” Abbasi-Asl said.
Read more about how Abbasi-Asl and his team did it, as well as how other UCSF researchers are using AI to detect heart problems with less invasive methods, monitor Parkinson’s Disease progression with a smart phone, and spot illnesses earlier.
