We are pleased to welcome Dr. Phillip B. Messersmith, a distinguished leader in bioengineering and materials science, as our guest speaker. Dr. Messersmith holds the Class of 1941 Endowed Professorship in the Departments of Bioengineering and Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, where he also serves as Chair of the Department of Bioengineering.

Dr. Messersmith's research focuses on understanding the structure-property relationships in biological materials and applying this knowledge to design biologically inspired materials for healthcare applications. His work encompasses the development of novel biomaterials for tissue repair and regeneration, including studies on biointerfacial phenomena and mechanochemical processes in biological systems.

Dr. Messersmith's contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, including the 2013 Clemson Award for Basic Research from the Society for Biomaterials and a MERIT Award from the National Institutes of Health. He is a fellow of several prestigious organizations, such as the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and the Royal Society of Chemistry.

We look forward to an engaging and insightful presentation from Dr. Messersmith, whose pioneering work continues to shape the future of biomaterials and regenerative medicine. We welcome everyone to stay for a networking session following the seminar.
